New technology and diagnostic tools are changing the way that we practice. Here are some of the new technologies we are incorporating into our practice.
Digital Radiography
Digital radiography (digital x-ray) is the latest technology used to take dental x-rays. The images are taken at a higher resolution, so they can be accurately viewed on a much larger scale. The latest imaging software allows us to enlarge and enhance any aspect of the image, making difficult diagnoses far easier to confirm. These images can be viewed quickly and easily at any time by both the patient and dentist and can be forwarded to the insurance company just as swiftly. Our practice utilizes the Scan-x system, which captures the image on a phosphur plate. The phosphur plate has the advantage of being the same size and thickness of film which tends to make it more comfortable than the hard digital sensor.
Digital imaging
Far too often, when you have a problem with a tooth, you must rely solely on a description from your dentist to help make your treatment decision. We believe that a picture is worth a thousand words. We utilize both intra-oral and extra-oral digital cameras to capture images during the majority of our appointments. The ability to see the problem is indispensable in helping you to make the correct decision regarding your dental health.
High Strength Ceramics
We now have the ability to place porcelain crowns and veneers that are indistinguishable from the natural dentition. These restorations are highly esthetic, but did not posess the necessary strength to be used on posterior teeth. However, recent advances in milled ceramics such as emax have provided us with a metal-free, highly esthetic restoration that can be placed virtually anywhere in the mouth.
